"I’m Coming Home" project, part 2
I know it’s been a while since we have done something major, but now that E3 is over and most people are on vacation from school, we can get back to doing big events.
Do you remember the ‘Coming Home' project from last year? It was a project started by one of our former admins as a school assignment. She had you guys send in pictures of you holding up signs that said “I'm Coming Home”, and to also write a short paragraph of how important your culture is and how Connor impacted you in that way.
The project was finished and put up for display at the University of British Columbia; however, the project lead never came back to tailor the project for Ubisoft. Unfortunately, she left the Initiative due to time constraints and real life issues.
We know that our participants put a lot of effort into this project, and would like to see this to the finish by filling in the spots that were missing.
We would like the rest of our followers to send in video clips of themselves, their families, etc. Anything that shows off their cultural heritage, whether it be a festival clip, cultural performing arts show, etc. If you don’t have personal video clips, then that’s fine! We are also looking for audio clips of our followers who would like to record a short, inspirational story of their heritage and how much Connor means to them.
Videos should be submitted to our inbox via a download link. So upload it to a place like Dropbox or whatever, and then send the link to us in our submission box. That way, we can download it. It can be in any format.
However, for audio clips, they must be in either .mp3 or .wav format. This is subject to change based on our video editor’s preferences.
Also, you can submit your video/audio clips in any language, as long as you provide us an English transcript of your speech (we may put subtitles on the videos). Remember, this is a multi-cultural effort that is meant to show Ubisoft how much Connor and all of Assassin’s Creed III has influenced our lives!
Speaking of which, we are looking for a talented video editor to help us put this project together! We are including not only the video and audio clips, but the picture submissions as well! We also have specifics that we’d like to include, which we will discuss privately once someone takes up this spot. So if you are interested, please message us!
Basically, we want the final version for this project to look something like a combination of these two videos: and , using Skylar Grey’s original ‘Coming Home’ song (as well as the Diddy remix) as the background music.
The deadline for submissions is 16 August, 11:59 Pacific Time.
For my video editors: the deadline for editing and other post-production work on the final revision is 24 August, 11:59pm Pacific Time.
If you have any questions, feel free to message us!

Assassin’s Creed: Connor Kenway
People say that the Connor fanbase is a minority, I truly doubt this. I see a lot of love for him not only here on tumblr, but also other websites like reddit and Deviant Art. Plus not many members speak out on this, I feel at least to my knowledge, at least 70-80% of Connor fans keep to themselves (including myself) while the other percentage speak out for him, creating the illusion of the minority group. I feel that its close or just as big as a fanbase as the other Assassins like Altair and Ezio. Its the matter of knowing where to look. BTW I truly encourage the others to share the love, who knows, perhaps it might change the minds back at Ubisoft, if we keep at it.
i think i’m so protective of connor because i know what it is like to feel uncomfortable around people and deal with anxiety in public situations (also don’t tell me he didn’t have PTSD from being nearly choked to death and then seeing his village/mother burn to the ground, and thinking that charles lee, the man who he could not stop, was responsible for doing it)
but he is still strident in his opinions (like calling sam adams out on being “for freedom” but owning slaves!) even as he wants to stand with the Founders and revolutionaries and believe the best of them
and i feel like a lot of players don’t stop to think why they would so dislike connor for being “flat” when he is actually incredibly passionate and expressive, but inhibited (unlike ezio) because of anxiety and PTSD and because hey! English isn’t his first language!
meanwhile altair spoke english and he was unexpressive and boring as fuck and nobody uses the excuse “altair had no emotion blah blah”
I thought a lot about this recently and I came a conclusion that, in a small silent way, Connor does has charisma. When you think about it, Edward’s charisma was rough but vibrant with energy, able to command a fleet of pirates without effort, such as how he convinced the whole crew to take over the Great Inagua and attacking the dangerous Legendary Ships that would scare off other pirates due to their power. Haytham’s charisma was one of authority and discipline, proven as he climbed the ranks to Templar Grand Master. With Connor, his kindness and compassion for others had enabled him to strengthen the Homestead and recruit Assassins for the cause of harmony and freedom. He even created hope within Achillies, a pessimist who once believed Connor’s motives were pure but futile. They all have levels of charm, but Connor’s was silent and humble, just how an Assassin should be!
